Bloom

나는 다소 꽃이 기괴하고 오싹하다. 가까이서 보면 드러나는 핏줄 같은 잎맥이나 털, 점박이 같은 것들이 징그럽게 느껴진다. 때로는 이게 예쁜가 싶다가도 가만히 보고 있자면 너무나도 사랑스럽다. 징그럽지만 거부하기 어려운 매력적인 존재. 이런 역설적인 양면성을 함께 받아들이는 것이 삶의 본질일지도 모른다.

꽃의 모습에서 우리 인간의 복잡성을 읽어내어, 작품 속에서 우리의 생을 꽃으로 표현하기 시작했다.

I find flowers somewhat grotesque and creepy. Up close, features like vein-like leaf patterns, hairs, or speckles can feel eerie. Yet, there are moments when I find them beautiful, and upon closer inspection, they reveal an undeniable charm. Flowers embody a paradoxical blend of the eerie and the endearing, much like the complexities of human existence itself.

In my work, I interpret us all as flowers—unsettling yet captivating beings that capture the essence of living and breathing.
